M.Phil Programmes (Regular) with Eligibility Criteria

Tamil

PG degree in Tamil / Literature and related disciplines (Folklore / Mass communication /
Linguistics / Translation) with a minimum of 55% marks

English and Communicative Studies

PG degree in English with a minimum of 55% marks


Micro Level Planning

PG degree in Arts / Science with a minimum of 55% marks

Research and Development

Any PG degree with a minimum of 55% marks

Development Sociology

PG degree in Sociology /Rural Sociology/ Social Science / Humanities / Science with a minimum of

Futurology

PhD PROGRAMMES

Admission will be made twice a year. Applications will be issued only on the recommendation of a Research Supervisor in January and August. However, foreign nationals and JRFs may be admitted any time.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for PhD programmes:

A PG degree obtained from a recognized Institution / University with 55% marks or an equivalent grade (5% relaxation for SC/ST applicants). GRU offers PhD programmes in various Faculties / Departments / Centres on a full-time / part-time basis. How to Apply
The application form along with the prospectus can be had from the DEPUTY REGISTRAR (ACADEMIC), GANDHIGRAM RURAL UNIVERSITY, GANDHIGRAM - 624 302, DINDIGUL DISTRICT, TAMIL NADU, INDIA
1. by post: by sending a written request specifying the programme and enclosing a crossed Demand Draft towards the application and registration fee, purchased not earlier than the date of the advertisement for admission, in favour of The Registrar, Gandhigram Rural University, payable at Canara Bank, Gandhigram (Code 8500) / State Bank of India, Ambathurai (Code 3373); in case of DDs on other banks, an additional Rs.50 should be paid as collection charges;
2. in person: by cash payment/remittance at the Canara Bank Extension Counter at Gandhigram.
3. Candidates may also download the application form from our website
www.ruraluniv.ac.in in which case Demand Draft should be enclosed for the cost
of application and registration fee along with filled in application form.

ADMISSION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS

Foreign applicants should produce a valid student visa / research visa (in case of PhD programmes), medical fitness certificate as per the norms of the Government of India and a certificate of financial guarantee at the time of seeking admission. If admitted, they will be governed by such rules and regulations as may be framed by the Government of India and by the authorities of GRU from time to time. Students from SAARC and developing countries will have to pay two times and those from other countries four times the fees paid by the Indian students, while the other fees will be the same as for the Indian students, all payable in US dollars. NRI students will be counted as foreigners.
